I know this may be a dumb question, but I recently installed some late model ranger headers onto my first gen, and replaced the exhaust and went with a better flowing muffler. My truck is a 84 ranger with a 2.3l carbed engine ( just found out last night by looking up engine block casting numbers that i have a 2.3 and not a 2.0 as i thought). Is there some sort of tune i need to have done for the new mods? I know my truck has a computer, but I don't see any sensors coming from the carb, intake, exhaust, anything except for some wires leading out of the distributor.

once upon a time, the guy who had the truck before the guy I got it from, swapped a mercedes diesel in it then put in the 2.3. According to the VIN number, it did come with a 2.0l but the casting numbers suggest its a 85 2.3.....SO, i can put mods on it and not have to worry about someone plugging a computer in and tuning?

It doesn't sound like there is anything to tune, computerwise?

You still need to set base spark timing and spark advance.
And tune the carb
