I have been wanting to make my own front bumper for my truck. Does anyone have any advice? Such as gauge, material, tips... Thanks guys
(and yes ill put up pictures when its done)

First comes first. Can you weld? lol

3/16" for metal depending on if your gonna use it or have it for looks. check out the bumper thread.

Id use 1/8th or 3/16th mild steel. Definetly mig weld it unless your a good stick welder lol. Also, make sure your metal is clean enough to eat off of before you start weldin stuff together....youll thank me later!

sure somewhat i dont know all the technical things but i have done some welding on a circle track car and our derby cars. Not to pretty but held up. I want the bumper to be more for durability and work but ill make it look good too. Thanks now i need to find something bad ass to go off of

Use 1/4" or 3/16 not anything less ,unless using dom tubing then use .120 wall thickness tubing min

for your first time...

grab some steel, preferrably scraps or something you aquired cheap, if you want bends then heat the steel up with a torch and bend it over a vise, if you dont want bends than dont worry about that. just start doodling and sketch out a rough idea of your design and then go to work, once you get about half-3/4 of the way through your project, scrap the first one and start making your second front bumper out of new steel, because by the time you have reached this point you will have thought of 10 different, better ways that you could have built it:icon_thumby:

now get to work!!:icon_welder:
