I've had to park the Ranger due to pinon seal leak and u-joints gone bad. I have the parts for the Ranger but haven't had the time to get to it.

So I'm driving a 2001 Metro 4 Door and looking for a forum for improving gas mileage and the such. I'm currently gett 30mpg, twice the mileage of my Ranger.

hey, do you mean a Chevy Prizm? Don't know much about them, but couldn't find anything about "2001 Metro 4Dr". I do know the Prizms of that era were based on the Toyota Corolla's of the time. Only GM vehicle Consumer Reports ever recommended.

here, does this look familiar: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?year=2001&make=Chevrolet&model=Prizm&trimid=-1

Nope, Chevy Metro. Probably made by Suzuki. 1.3L engine, 3spd Automatic. 2001 was the last year it was made.

:dntknw: oh yeah, it does say somthin about that... well glad i could "help" :black_eye:

think i better hit the sack, good luck withcher new wheels :icon_thumby:

For just about any common production vehicle, just about the only thing you can do to "improve" mileage is to keep it repaired and appropriately tuned up.

This is an ECONOMY car. It already had a team of engineers trying to improve its mileage. Why do you think there is something simple they didn't think of?

Though I get better mileage in my Prizm with it's 280K miles.

the 3-spd is the downfall for that particular car. I drove a '97 LSi 3-dr alot at a job I was at a few years back, it got about the same mileage.

Well 30mpg is pretty good for this car, can't do much to improve on that other than eggshell driving. But Also need to find a couple parts.

check out TEAMSWIFT.NET its all about the Suzuki built cars Suzuki swif,Geo Metro,Chevy Metro,Chevy Sprint,Pontiac Firefly which was only in CAN.

They even have a category listing in there forum for fuel economy. You should be able to get close to 38-40 with some of the things that they mention on there forum

I was looking for that website last time. I've been googling that yesterday and I didn't notice that I will find the answer on the same forum I'm in :headbang:
