Need a favor (auto to manual conversion)

The button is to disable the overdrive on the auto.

auto computer need to think the trans is in park or neutral to start the engine, but if it’s in park or neutral the engine will not go above 3000 rpm.

Thanks, well I don't need to do anything with the button wiring then - I believe the way my project is planned, I won't need to send many signals to the computer as my 302 is old school with a Holley 600 4 barrel carb - just need cranking power to the starter off the key & power to the 1 wire distributor (Ford style of course LOL! ) - have no idea as to how much/or any at all of the computer & harness I will be needing - thanks for your response

Let me ask you this----where does a Ranger with an automatic transmission pick up it's speedometer input from so the gauge operates?

On the 2000 I can’t say for sure.

I’m fairly certain my ‘11 uses the wheel speed sensors that it uses for the abs.

2000 might likely still be a vehicle speed sensor on the differential

Thanks---it is just something else that I still need to keep - I suppose that the ABS runs through the computer?

I learned something today, doing a search of "2000 Ford Ranger Speedometer" that may tell me that you are absolutely correct- - -this is what it said "The 1998-2000 Rangers are not equipped with a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) receives vehicle speed information from the antilock brake system rear wheel speed sensor. The raw signal from the ABS/VSS sensor on the rear axle goes directly to the Explorer 4WABS module where the signal is corrected for tire diameter. Then the corrected signal is sent to the PCM, speed control, cluster, etc. In this system, the PCM is an end user of the corrected VSS signal."- - -so, correct me if I misread this but it appears to me that by taking out the automatic and installing the T5, I have done nothing to disturb my speedometer and it should work as it did before I began this project?
