I've thought about this at one time. I can get CNG locally nearby and for around $1.50 per gallon equallivent. But the up front cost of doing it right and the extra equipment that the Ranger will have to haul turned me away. Its about $1500+labor to have one installed and only a certified shop can do it. Certified my butt, like heck I'm letting any other mechanic besides me work on my Ranger.
It's been done. It was a factory fleet option on Rangers and Taurus. They are expensive to run and maintain.
Why the sudden interest in all these exotic/alternative fuels?
I want a short range inexpensive vehicle for making trips into town and around my farm, probably will get no more than 30 miles a day or so.
Just get one on of those the 4 wheelers like I have to run around in on my property. I can run the Rhino forever on a tank of gas and still enjoy camping and fishing with it. Can't take it to the store legally of course here. Up in Mississippi and Alabama where we are out in the country I can drive in to the market places....nobody cares up there.
