National Sick Day

April gives me time to get my points back down so I might be able to. I've only used sick days at work so far for weekend camping trips and when family visits. I did use 1 sick day last year when I was actually sick after 3 days of constant pain in my ears and on the 3rd day I couldn't stand it anymore.

Last year I used 126 hours of paid sick leave, most of it was for anything but being sick. I'm burning another 8 today. Today and 10 hours earlier this week were because of a stomach virus I picked up. A lot of what I used last year was actually when purchasing and working on the house I just bought. I would have used my annual leave, as I get 6 hours paid of it every two weeks -vs- 4 hours paid sick leave. Unfortunately my employers decided to be dick's most of this year and not let folks use annual leave unless we put it on out leave planner at the beginning of the year.

Sorry for ranting there.

While I think the idea sounds good I'm going to have to decline I need to use less leave all together this year. Thinking I might burn two weeks of annual leave a coupe days of sick leave, the rest will be carried over. I know I'll be taking the time for the TRS anniversary, and I will be taking two days for a minor surgery week after next. The rest I hope to bank.

in the service i walk around for three weeks on a broken foot because the doc thought i was trying to get out of work. and he got mad when i stopped calling him sir.

i dont call off for any reason, but after working 14 hours 6 days a week for a few weeks because some one else f**ked up i will take a mental health day

I called in sick the first 2 days of this 4 day trip. I have a sinus infection and had to go on antibiotics and I'm not allowed to work the first 24 hours after starting them. Other than that I DON'T call in sick if I can avoid it. My employer is paying for my house, trucks, cars, atvs, boat, cabin etc. The least I can do is show up when I'm scheduled to work. It's called work ethic. Do what you want but if someone is paying you to work you should work. If you don't like your employer, find a new job. My $.02.

i get 4 weeks holidays and ten sick days(paid)and i dont miss any time over and above
but i rarely get sick(thankfully)i value a good set of work ethics but i also understand
that all work and no play just burns people out.(proud union member C.A.W)
