mystery connectors...

While chasing some electrical problems, I came across two connectors at the back of the engine side fuse/relay box in my 92 4.0L Ranger. Wondering if anyone knows what these are for and if they should be connected or not?

Looks just like the tester plugs on my 92 f150 with 300

2 wire is spout, pull the plug when checking timing.
1 wire is for obd1 connector.
