Mystery Cable/Tubes

I'm looking to install a nice little intake, and I noticed that ( 93 4.0L V6 )
the air filter box has two tube/cables/sensors. What are these and can they be removed with no problems?

ive removed both of mine on my 2.3l without any problems, just make sure to use vaccum caps at both ends and maybe throw on some small zip ties for added assurance.
