New guy and didn't see a category for general questions so here it is. I am dropping an old mini RV onto a 2003 Ranger frame. Mini RV has a lower floor that drops between the back frame. So i will remove the spare wheel framing but there is something attached to it that i will need to move. I have looked all over for info on this object with wires going into it and wrist to forearm length. Schematics etc. haven't enlightened me :) - So what is it? thanks guys!

it is part of your evap. system. I believe it is somekind of carbon or charcoal filter. I'm sure you can move it by just extending the lines and wires. hope this helps you.

hmm still pretty mysterious - can i just remove it? Or it looks like i could move it to the backend behind the leaf springs? Thanks for the info!!

Your gas tank vents into it, and during certain conditions the fuel vapor that is absorbed into the charcoal is fed into your engine (normally just during cruise)

Move it if you have to, but don't remove it.

do you think moving it further from the gas tank will cause a DEQ problem? if its all about preventing gas evaporation from escaping it should be alright?

It shouldn't. On my 96 Ranger, its located under the hood behing the driver's side headlight.
