Mysterious grinding noise...

My four wheel drive just went out and when i tried to turn it one it just makes a bad grinding noise from the left front wheel, Im assuming it might be a hub, considering that i have the crappy automatic ford hubs in there still... Any thoughts?

Bad grinding noise? Most likely a shot auto hub. You'll have to pull it apart to verify that yourself tho.

I have a 95 ranger 4x4 that had this grinding in the front end and it wound up being a bearing in the front diff .it was worn out. i have manual hubs and manual 4wd.
