Well all,
I have a 2006 Ranger sport 4x4 4.0 regular cab.

I changed the following in attempting to find this "chunk" and "clunk" noise I get goin over bumps.

I changed both CV shafts, all ball joints and added shock extensions. As well as changed both wheel bearings and brake pads.

But I still get this "clunkin" noise when I go over bumps...

I'm at a loss and fiance is tired of me pouring money into it.

I've narrowed it down substantially, Its gotta be a tie rod end, shock or the upper ball joint on the passenger side. The noise sounds from that side of cab, so I'm leaning towards the upper arm or shock.

Any other input would be wonderful, I'm tired of guessing, though the darn thing handles wonderfully now.

Check your swaybar end links and bushings

Check your swaybar end links and bushings

every...single....time.

do it. unbolt the end links and tie them off and see if the clunk goes away.

i diag. handfuls of clunk noises a week from sloppy end links and bushings

If you had the truck aligned before I would check the alignment cams on upper arm. Also If memory serves me right you have a alignment cam on the lower passenger arm at the rear pivot. (might just be the 2wd)

The "clunk" is gone. I had upper ball joints done back in march.

And have had both the sway bar links and bushings done since. I changed the shocks, wheel bearings and even went so far to change lower ball joints.

And all it was was the upper passenger side ball joint that i had put on back in march proved to be defective. So i had that one removed and replaced just tonight with one that I can grease myself. So far, all is silent.

Still rather wrench on my ford ranger than push a chebby.
