Okay guys. I am a Ford fan...but I have sinned lol. I put a 305 chevy in my 86 Ranger last summer. Its good...I like it. But I really want more power. Should i stick with the set up in the truck and just get a 350 (I have a lead to a built 350 my buddy had in his S10) about 310hp and almost 350 ft lb. I could get it for 500 bucks. But I really want to go back to all Ford. Is it worth it to go back and do a 351W swap. Suggestions and opinions please.

Why appologize? There is nothing wrong with putting a small block Chev into a Ranger.

Stick with the 350 option. You already have the truck set up for it, so why add a bunch of work? Dollar for HP, the Chev is a lot cheaper to build than a 351W.

Yup, why bother swapping all the swap parts out for more swap parts? haha....Just swap in the 350 and go nuts!

Or a 327ci would be fun, too :D. A friend of mine has a '77 Camaro 350 with a TH400 that's pretty scary. If you already have it setup for Chevy and you feel it can hold that motor safely, that would definitely be most practical. But 351W is a good motor for sure, your call :).

swap parts? what swap parts? haha the whole thing is custom fabbed. yeah like i said the motor i can get my hands on is pretty scary. I just need a trans and im not sure how i can make a chevy 5 speed work out in a ford. thats really the only hurdle.
and does anyone know the dimension differences between a 350 and 351 or 302? I need to get my hands on those.
