My wifes Honda is making noise Uhghh....

CV joints make their noises on turns when they are beginning to fail. I don't think it's CV joints. They last at least 10 years. It's a dirt-simple car. Much easier to work on than an F150.

I have seen CVs ''click'' when not turning the car, it had to have more then 300lbs in it and she'd click like a bugger only going straight, but not with just one person or turning.

Well, I finally looked at the wifes Honda today. The boots were all good. I was right in my suspicions that it sounded like something hitting the backing plate behind the brakes. The bottom of the plate on the drivers side got pushed in and was making contact with the back of the rotor. I pulled it out, took it for a test drive and the sound was gone. Good thing I don't have to spend any money on that because I need knew front pads on the F150. It's always something.

Pads only should not be very expensive? Any ideas as to what was hit to bend the plate?

Ya, I know. I'm suprised they wore so quickly. I guess hauling the Ranger all over Kentucky last year didn't help.

I have no idea what bent the plate. Weird.

Don't you have trailer brakes? Normally when I am towing with them, I let the trailer slow the truck. Not much, but just enough so I know I am not overheating the truck brakes.

Ya. IDK. The trucks already got over 24,000 miles on it.

OEM pads for the 04+ F-150's are really soft, notice how most of them have black front wheels. Guys on F-150 forums usually opt for a midgrade parts store brand set of pads, they are a little tougher than Ford's.

yeah myy front tires are never clean, but my brakes got 31k on them and i towed my BII atleast once about 700-800miles, sad part is gotta do tires before winter the stock michelens have about had it, almost to the wear bar and 1 wont hold air for more than 2 days
