so my truck 2000 ranger 4.0 4x4 5 speed was driving fine and on the way home from the store i pulled up in front of my house and started movin my truck forward a lil bit messin around reved my truck up maybe 3500 rpm and let it come down a little bit and released the clutch it jumped forward and knockd outta of gear and never stalled but when i put it back into gear nothing happend in any gear the shifter goes in fine but nothing happens so i tried it with out pushin the clutch does the same thing with out pressin the clutch goes through all the gears as if it were not running my transfer case is a p.o.s only 2wd worked to begin with but needed it to work the t case was 50$ LOL so iv been thinking and well hoping its my t-case seen as how i have another in my garage i have a center force dual friction clutch and ford flywheel both were brand new when they were installed about a year ago any help would be appreciated

hey can u hear the gears workn in the tranny when u let the clutch out, if so sounds like ur t case took a shyt...

the transfer case probably just popped out of gear. if its electric just remove the shift motor and turn it with vise grips

if you can put it in gear without the clutch and no grinding I'd think it's not the t case.I could be wrong but that tells me you busted something in the trans or before the trans.

it already has no shift motor i already use vice grips lol gem module went out like almost 2 years ago with the old t case and i hear a lil of the gears movin but not realy not sure if that's what it is @kkjb4x4.0 thats what i was thinking iv just been dreading rebuilden the trans maybe its just the fly wheel or clutch or hydro assembly for the clutch?????

pull the trans drain plug and see if the input shaft gear teeth are hanging onto the magnet

it is possible to get it into gear, without the clutch, if the t-case is in neutral, though i am going to lead to a messed up clutch...

does it slide into gear like butter, or is there a little resistance?

check if the t-case is in neutral or not, just to make sure, and then start draining fluids, looking for metal

t case is deff in gear and ya it goes in gear like normal maybe seems a lil bit smoother prob try bleeding the ctutch tomo for shits and giggles and then drain fluid and if necessary drop the tranny any more info would be appreciated

you broke your trans, 99% sure of it... don't bother bleeding the clutch, it won't help

only way it would do anything would be if your master is packed up, and is keeping pressure in the line, which makes no sense as to what you described at the beginning

Well its possible the the clutch splines broke apart but that would most likley give you some noise, I'd bet its your input shaft somewhere along the line. Havn't ever heard of it. Here is a good site that has a parts breakdown, Check under Ford, M5R1 4x4
