my truck undergoing custom radius arm

yeah i would like to put somthing on there like that, i was thinking about some kind of metal screen or somthing, yeah ill look into those arb filters, i still have to mount it to the cab properly so it doesnt bounch around like how it is right now. i might just buy a can of tremclad and paint the white pvc pipe but im not to worried about cosmetics at the moment.

oh and "copykat" when and if i do drop the trans cutting that pipe out and welding it back in wont take more then 20 miniutes to do so im not to worried. im actually planning on swaping in that explorers engine and tranny as soon as my engine goes which could be anytime as its hitting 330 xxx pretty soon, still runs great tho no lifter noise and burning oil!

Ok, i never got back to this thread for a LONG time but if you follow this thread make sure you use bigger pipe then this i have some carnage pics of those bending a week after i built it, use at least a 2" diameter pipe heavy wall sched 80 i think i had sched 40 1.25" on that, also i redid how the pipe is connected to the stock radius arm WAY BETTER idea then what i put in the first place i didnt realize the stresses that actually go on the radius arm and now it is indestructable, if anyones interested i could post up what i had done

This might interest you doods who want to extend your rad arms. Lots to learn on the last 3 pages of this thread, not nessicairly from me

:icon_welder:

What I learned is to overlap onto the stock c-shape with your extending material lots. (eg todd + junkie) Especially more than I did.

this is where i socket welded my existing stock radius arm bolt into my 2 inch sched 80 pipe, i also if you look closley cut and squeezed a peice of the 2 in pipe and shoved it into the pipe for a tight fit for the radius arm bolt.

same as above

peice of pipe untouched

this is the old arm, being bent from flexing out, to small and weak..

this is how i cut my old radius arm for a stronger fitup, wayy better idea then before, made some slots for some weld to grab the pipe.

this is it tacked up, never got any pics of it welded up but i can get some if people want
