Ok this squeal just started and its LOUD. its in around the belt area. So i checked the belt and put some belt dressing on it. The belts not the problem so what could it be

Does it sound like a belt squeak, or a bearing?

But I would think most likely not if it just started and is all of a sudden very loud

Eh, my Explorer's pulley/belt squealed. It was quiet and then one day it was there. Replaced everything and the sound never went away. Besides, loud is relative.

could be the bearings in the alternator or ac compressor frying. I had that happen in another vehicle once. Big squeal then - later - no work.

NEVER put belt dressing on a serpentine belt! It is basically tar that helps v-belts get grip and stop squeeking because of the small amount of surface area on the vbelt. Serpentine belts are an all in one belt with a large surface area. Putting belt dressing on a squeeky belt will only make it worse if it doesn't destroy your belt first. I have seen many people try it. I would take your belt off and either clean it or replace it and clean out all of the pulley's really well then put it back on or the new one. if the belt still squeeks get a lotiony soap bar and hold it lightly to both sides of the belt and the squeeking should be gone temperarely. (if it is the belt)

If not you would want to pull the belt anyways and check pulley bearings.

my 150 has that problem, DO NOT use the belt dressing anymore, i sprayed some on mine and WHAM brand new 25 dollar belt just got shredded. i would guess the tensioner pulley.

the bearing on mine feels perfect, rolls smooth and everything but as soon as i start the truck it starts screamin. i would start with that, pulleys are cheap.

I replaced the tension pulley. It was the only one making any noise and had a little play from side to side. It did nothing though, its still squealing. sounds like a belt squeal but the belt is in perfect shape as far as i can tell.

Is it a chirp chirp chirp on a constant squealing noise?
