the other day the belt on my 03 ranger with the 3.0 broke. look like it ripped. the truck has about 65k on it and it looked like the original belt. so i replace it and within 3 days this belts rips as well right on the edge. take it back think it was defecting and get another. within a couple of days it does the same thing. i'm at a loss as to what to do. my pullies all look to be in line. my neighbor gave me a new tensioner pulley so i did replace that but it hasn't helped. what could be wrong? the tensioner itself?

If you've been putting new belts on you will know already if the tensioner is moving freely. Sounds like you have a pulley out of alignment. Use a steel straight edge and go from one pulley to the next and see if they are truly in line. If they aren't in line the edge will show it.

tried

tried the straight edge and all the pullies seem to be in line. the tensioner though is at an angle looks as though bent. i don't have to take a wrench to the tensioner to get the belt off i can pull on the belt and get it off as weird as that sounds.

Mr Bean, you have a broken tensioner, don't drive it
until the tensioner is replaced. It's very easy to bolt on a
new one......

Knowing the tensioner is at an odd angle and that you can remove belts easily without a wrench. Your tensioner is shot. Get a new one and throw it on there.
