Is now missing first and second gear... possibly third. Put the wrong tranny fluid in.

This is on Ryannn's Ford Ranger... not my BII, For clarification.

Pull a cooling line and pour 12 quarts through the filler tube to flush it- it might work with the right stuff.

If he'd caught it before things started breaking, I'd agree with you.

Problem is, now he is missing at least two, possibly three gears in an A4LD. It's boned.

Bummer. What does the wrong fluid do, grind up the clutches and bands?

Each type of fluid has a certain amount of slippery to it, as well as a few other minor differences. The wrong stuff run long enough will destroy the friction material. Either let it slip too much all the time, or make it grab too much and tear up the clutches.

So if Dexron II isn't around anymore for the AL4D (among others), Do we use Dexron VI?

i used dexron iv last time i think.... idk, it was all i could find that was dexron whatever it was. and it aint hurt... and that was several thousand ago..
