My summer/fall build

It's a 94 OHV. The lifters don't tick and it's not leaking oil. Ami has a new truck on order and it will be built sometime in the next 8 weeks. Once it's home, I don't want the Explorer hanging around here. I already have Fred Sanford living next door to me LOL

though that is some hella flex, I'd bend the trac bar to clear the diff. looks like you've still got some compression left in that spring

Phil I do not know anyone personally who would want anything from the explorer. What did you/Ami order?

The springs still have lots of movement left, I will be changing the tracbar or it's mount, I just haven't decided exactly what just yet. I am working on getting it running now and will come back to the tracbar issue later.

Ordered an 08 Ranger. Got the Sport package, supercab, 2wd, 3.0L, 5 speed, 4.10 ls rear end and 6 mos free of Sirius satellite radio. Best part is Ami will have a good reliable truck to take the boy to karate, soccer and where ever else she needs to go.

sounds like a plan. looking forward to the updates

Lots of work but not a lot of progress to show. I have boxed, plated and gusseted more of the frame, weld filled most of the frame holes, and am redoing the lower tracbar mount to raise it ~2.5” and increase the tracbar length by about 4.5”. I am also now going to full hydro steering, I am installing some really nice high steer arms tonight from a local vendor that eliminates the kingpin spring. The engine is going back into the truck so I can start custom making the headers and doing all the wiring/plumbing. My steering parts are 2 weeks away, so I hope to have the truck ready to run, and exocage done (or near done) by that time. I will post some pictures when I have some of the above done. If you are ever in Brampton you should come by the shop to see it.

Sounds good to me. I'll see if I can get Dave away from his wifey for a day and we'll come up and check out "the tank" :0

Thanks for your interest Phil. I am well behind schedule as to where I wanted to be by now, but the truck has evolved into more than I originally planned as well. Only real progress pictures are
I finished up my front winch mount.

Also I have made the interior a little more roomy

I have lowered the front of the truck 1” and am reworking the tracbar. Also I am now mounting my hydro steering setup. I am hoping to be done early May.

Looks awesom, Derek. Love the new interior. Looks pretty posh in there. I have decided to turn the old Explorer into a trail rig after seeing what you've done. I'll be needing your expertise to do a few of the things I want to do to it.

More exhaust pictures

i would have suggested to run the headers 5 in from the firewall and turn so 3 in undere the floor, and definatly for you to get some shielding on the firewall/floor where the pipes run.

hot hot hot. cause i sure as hell dont need carpet in anything i drive...and it can get hot in here.

what longs do you have? cv's or u/j? didnt see cv in the pics.

i definatly appreciate the work you guys have done...wow!:headbang:

Thanks Bobby.

I am a little concerned about the heat, but I plan on getting the headers coated and significant heat shielding under the floor, especially around the cats. This was the first attempt at making headers for both us, and the driver's side was really tight for room; for the tire at stuff, the orbital and hydroboost which are mounted on the firewall, and I wanted the exhaust protected by the still to be made rock sliders/exocage.

I bought the longfield 300M u-joints, they are a work of art when you hold them in your hand, and based on the reading I did (pirate4x4 mostly) they are on par with CTMs strength wise and were on sale for $165ea with free shipping in the USA a while back.
