little synopsis, about 2 months ago i broke both left front axles, and popped a cap off a joint on the right side. this is with 760x's and full clips, so on my spare set of axles, i now have 760x's, stock clips, tacked caps.. and its held so far.

not only did i break both left axle ears, i broke the inner off at the splines.

i had to pull the beam/diff, pull the carrier and take the lockright apart to get the chunk out.. so much for a 2hr axle swap/wheelbearing repack job.

after i got it back together i decided to take a rip thru my backyard.. i was feeling a little bulletproof, so i didnt air down or anything, and the 24"+ of semi hard snow gave way and i ttb plowed myself stuck:

then after i dug myself out, i decided to do some poser flex, and test to see if the axles were rubbing anywhere.

then the next day, another snow stuck..

then a few days later i was messing around on the front lawn (im a huge poser).. and eventually got stuck, and my girlfriend pulled me out (again) with her Cherokee, i just needed a little tug.. i get stuck so much, its not embarrassing anymore. i blame bfg ats.

got winch? nope. i dug out the front axle, and then tried to move the truck, and the tire dug down another 8".. if u compare the front shots of the truck, u can see how much deeper it dug on the 2nd try, look at the left front tire.... so im gonna try to pull it out with a few come-alongs tomorrow after class.

so yea its time to get some M/Ts again, i wore my old ones out pretty much, and got these bfg ats for less than half of new, and figured they'd be good for winter, and they were great on road in the snow.. but thats abouuuuut it.
also the axles have held up so far with the caps tacked, so cross your fingers for me.

we had a dozen deer down here earlier this week! we've always seen 6 or so, but damn this year is crazy! we have 3 wild apple trees in the back yard and a pear tree in my grandfathers backyard, so the deer are regular visitors, turkeys too, dozens--but we arent hunters, so we just observe.

many more stucks to come, that is until i get some good tires again. then i will be back to breaking things on rocks most likely. :nono: theres still a ton of snow, and all the wheelin' trails around here are snowmobile/ski/snowshoe trails in the winter, so nothing is really ready for trucks yet.. so i gotta stick to the few little obstacles we have on our land for a few weeks at least.

apparently i do too, blown spiders on 3.27s open diff 33" mts, 4 broken shafts, including the broken splines on locked 4.56s 33" ats.. with full circle clips + 760x's...

Probably anticipating the next thing you have to rebuild.

:icon_twisted:

Good Lookin ranger! love the front bar

I dont think tires are gonna help when ya cant see the axles...:dntknw:

I disagree. If he had some tires with some tread on em like the mud terrains then I bet he could of made it through that. I know ive been in mud similar to that and I was able to make it through slowly but surely. Great pics man, can I come over and play?

brrr, makes my hands cold just thinking about digging out of that cold soup.here in california its going to be a nice sunny day again

In mud it will help a little because mud moves easier then rocks or hard packed snow but 90% of the time if your axles are hung up your not moving.

lol yeah they would deff. help you retreat from a bad situation.
