No offense taken, I was just pulling peoples' chains. I'd like to be a snowbird too. Friggin' winter has sucked this year. I'd live in FL full-time except their job situation is even worse than ours. That pesky problem of needing money for things like food and truck parts and all....

Not nearly as bad as the original post made it sound. Looks like new bumpers and you are set to go. I thought it was going to look more like my truck after I hit a lightpole with a concrete base about two months ago. Hit some ice, spun, and ended up hitting the pole directly in the front end at around 25mph. You could see the front of the front bumper when you looked down BEHIND the grill. Drove it home from there though, no radiator damage or broken lights. These trucks are tough!

I thought it was going to look like the Ranger I saw get smashed in a parking lot by a Mercury Mountaineer. That is nothing compared to it. Vo-tech parking lot, this snobby rich jerk had been bragging that he was driving his mom's brand new mountaineer (is that really something worth bragging about? ) and tried hot-rodding in the parking lot when we all went to leave (I think he was trying to lay tire in the lot except IIRC those are auto 4x4s so that wasn't going to happen, lol). The lot wasn't all that big either. Slammed into the back of a 3rd gen Ranger, pushed it into the car in front of him and that car into the next one in front. The one in front didn't really have any damage and just drove off after a quick look. The Ranger looked like a crumpled beer can. It was a nice looking teal with matching fiberglass cap regular cab 4x4. Rear bumper was relocated to the middle of the tailgate, both bedsides were visibly crumpled, both taillights gone, cap was blown out, front bumper smashed, took out the headlights, grill, folded the hood and smashed the fenders. The kid driving the ranger bailed out, ripped off his shirt, and dragged the other kid through the window of the mountaineer. I thought the kid driving the mountaineer was about to get beat to a pulp but the principal (it happened right in front of him, he'd always go out an wave as everyone left ) managed to stop him by yelling "DON'T HIT HIM! YOU WOLN'T GET ANY MONEY!!"

well my hitch took 99% of impact. I DESTROYED my brakes trying to avoid the front hit. It did manage to bust my radiator though.

Rangers in the shop. thought I was getting a cobalt as a rental car but they gave me a 2010 Silverado Crewcab 6.2 4x4. As shameful as it is I am very impressed with this truck. I still prefer my ranger though and can't wait to get it back SO i CAN BUY HER BFGS!!!!

Hell to the no!!! But its much better than my 03 6.0 2wd was surprisingly. I like this truck man. If I buy a fullsize though it will be an f150 with a semisimilar configuration as my rental.

thats pretty cool that your getting "3 grand worth of work", if i was you, i woulda told the insurance company to write you a check and you would fix it your self. buy the parts yourself then take it somewhere else to get fixed. cuz even with the body work, your brakes all the way around and a radiator, it still shouldnt add up to 3 grand. that ford dealers makin some $$$$ off that bill...that profit could be in your pocket

well I was supposed to get my truck back but that didnt happen. They did everything but the front bumper. I was gonna do it my self(thanks for answering the phone for the advise Frank) but the insurance guy offered me another $200 to stfu and let him authorize that and apologized for not authorizing front bumper replacement before lol. So since I'm still stuck with my rental for god knows how long I figured I would whore the POS.

Silverado wheel wells are so ugly....I hated my 2003 silverado but at least it looked good.

I do gotta say I love having a backseat to throw more expensive tools in.

Insurance company is paying full cost of the rental minus gas, right? If I had a Chevy for free for a few days I'd put the back end on jack stands and stick a brick on the skinny pedal just for giggles. I'd love to do that to my company Silverado but the damn thing breaks enough as it is.
