The term Snowbird is used to describe people from the U.S. Northeast, U.S. Midwest, or Canada who spend a large portion of winter in warmer locales such as California, Arizona, Florida, the Carolinas, or elsewhere along the Sunbelt region of the southern and southwest United States, Mexico, areas of the Caribbean, and even as far away as Australia and New Zealand.[citation needed] It is also used for those who migrate to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, for the winter. Victoria is known for having very mild winters by Canadian standards, and has an annual "blossom count" in mid-February to prove its warm winter status.

Snowbirds are typically retirees, and business owners who can afford to be away from home for long periods of time or have a second home in a warmer location. Some snowbirds carry their homes with them, as campers (mounted on bus or truck frames) or as boats following the east coast Intracoastal waterway. It used to be that snowbirds were the wealthy who maintained several seasonal residences and shifted residence with the seasons to avail themselves of the best time to be at each location.

Many of these "Snowbirds" also use their vacation time to declare permanent residency in low, or no tax states (where the taxes are sustained by high tourism taxes), and claim lower non-resident income taxes in their home states. Some are reputed to use this dual-residency to absentee vote in both locales.

Ahhhh.... got it... yeah I hate those people! They come up here and act like they are the shit cause they can afford all this different stuff. not to mention they come up here when all the adventuring is happening and all they do is sit in their houses and stuff. I had a guy in a hummer bitch me out cause my truck wasn't clean... I was like who are you to judge I just got back from camping... You probably just got back from car wash.

thanks for clearing that up, i was goin to ask the very same question. matt, hope all is goin well for you(the best it can anyway) and i hope the ranger lives on

Hey, hey! My parents are snowbirds. They've missed all the fun I've had the last three months with the 3rd snowiest winter on record (so far) too. :annoyed:

Mmm, getting hit at 35 mph by a F250. I'd imagine it's worse than just a back bumper, especially on a Ranger.

No visible damage to cab or bed. Back bumper is now crooked and flush with bed. Front bumper is crushed(Its flat dude :bawling:) and bent to ****. pics up withing next 10 minutes

Pics dont do the front bumper justice. It is FLAT!!

Ok the ones I have run into were jerks and stuff. Didn't mean to offend your Parents. sorry.
No offense taken, I was just pulling peoples' chains. I'd like to be a snowbird too. Friggin' winter has sucked this year. I'd live in FL full-time except their job situation is even worse than ours. That pesky problem of needing money for things like food and truck parts and all....

i know u love your truck, and i know it hurts to see it damaged.... but dude..thats nothing
not even a light is broken!
a new front bumper and keep rocking!! :headbang:

Not nearly as bad as the original post made it sound. Looks like new bumpers and you are set to go. I thought it was going to look more like my truck after I hit a lightpole with a concrete base about two months ago. Hit some ice, spun, and ended up hitting the pole directly in the front end at around 25mph. You could see the front of the front bumper when you looked down BEHIND the grill. Drove it home from there though, no radiator damage or broken lights. These trucks are tough!
