You've been busy.

I think most of the sliding doors I've seen are built with the lumber laying flat (so the door is thinner). Seems I've seen them made from 2x6 opposed to 2x4 too. I would also sheet it with metal roofing opposed to plywood for the weather resistance.

It appears to have enough room for it to slide behind the gas meter on the outside...

Something else... you should sink two posts in the ground close to both bottom corners of the door when closed. This is so someone can't just pull the door away from the building at the bottom and get in your building.

They make rollers and metal guides for that where you get the door track and the roller trucks to hang the door with. His padlock piece that the door engages will also help with that if he makes a lock on the outside. Or he can make a piece to engage on the inside if it's not going to be locked on the outside.

Lumber vertical so water does get trapped in the seems.

That is how all the siding and doors are on our barn anyway. :dntknw:

Here is the track, comes in 10ft lengths.

The track wheels

Hanger brackets for the track

Like I said, Tractor Supply is high. Try a local farm store.

People have ruined the search feature for the doors by putting these decorative barn doors inside their houses. That is all that comes up.

I had a buddy that did just that... the thieves just used a wrench to remove the roller... got in... and stole all of his shit.

He sunk posts in the ground after that. He also bolted two short pieces of chain on the lower inside corners then put brackets on the wall with a notch to accept a chain link. Pull the door tight and drop the chain in the notch. Even if they cut the post they can't get the chain out of the bracket and the door would not pull away from the building.

If thieves want your stuff... not much you can do but slow them down really.

Can I mount those rail hangers right to the cinder block, or do I have to attach a 2x to the side of the building and attach them to that?

I didn't read the article... but that door needs to be longer then the opening by a foot or a little less I guess. It should overhang each end 4 to 6 inches.

I would think you could bolt the rail to the block using tap cons. The would be dependent on the hardware you buy I guess.

I don't know how well I would trust tap cons for this. I feel like I need to run bolts all the way through so they can't pull out.

Good sized toggle bolts into the hollows of the block would work. But I thought you built a great big wooden header across the top. I would lag screw into that.

The track has to extend way past that header. It will need to be attached at least partially on the block. But the togglebolt would work.
