just changed my timing belt on my 2.3 dual plug
followed the book and the thing runs like its out 180 what am i missing?:icon_confused:

probably a tooth off.

If it was 180 out it wouldn't run at all.

Yes it can, and it's easy to check with the hole in the timing cover. If it doesn't line up at TDC then it's off.

can i reset the computer on a 89xlt 2.3?

replaced timing sensor and belt truck fires right up and then chokes out

I'd double check that you got it lined up right, and not a tooth off. Just like 2.9 said.

i had the same thing when my belt slipped after playing in mud. it fired up and choked out when i put it back on. it was off by like 1 tooth. just keep adjusting it till you get it right.
