Just a shot in the dark, your o2 sensor could be going bad but not throwing any codes. Could also be your TPS going out telling the injectors to open more then they should be or just needs adjusted.
Sorry for jumping off the adult coloring world there, must be the inner ranger in me comming out.
Did you check for a fuel leak ????
I found I had a injector o-ring leaking a little on mine when the engine was cold, it stopped once the engine got warm.
Robert

Same engine, similar symptoms. He says it was the crank sensor.
Well got the exhaust leak fixed it wasn't the header gasket it was the three bolts down at the Y pipe... put locktite on them this round. Also put the blue LED in the heat and air control.. Looks great... Now a new issue has arose... Won't start with the starter all I get is clicks.. Battery is good, put in a new Solinoid on the starter and had it tested..
I have no idea why it won't start with starter... I can roll it and dump the clutch and it starts right up. Today was the first time I have tried to start it in a week.
Did you check to make sure all your connections were good? When I first bought the 93 it refused to start. I put a new positive and negative terminals on the cables and it hasn't failed me since. Also check for internal corrosion of the cables, it happens on our older trucks. If that's the case I'd go ahead and overhaul all the major cables.
Maybe something's drawing power away from the starter, and there's not enough juice left for it to work?![]()
