My idea of a Shelby Ranger if there would have been one.

Todays list

Here is todays run down.. I put all new seals on the AC lines. Vacuumed it down for an hour... Everything looked sweet... I threw the first can to it and blew a hose... One of the lock springs came out... After searching high and low found the spring under the truck... vaced it down again and charged it.. seems fine now... Bought new rotors and calipers with the steel piston and new pads along with new brake hoses... I got a master cylinder for a 92 bench bled it only to find out it was wrong for a 90... had to take it back and get one for a 90... front brake line nut was to big for a 92 master cylinder.. so 89 and 90 will work but 92 won't...


Got those on without incident... I also sent some seafoam through the vacuume line under the throttle body... She smoked like crazy for about an hour... seems to run better but I think the lower intake needs retorqued.. The Temp on the number 6 Cyl header tube is getting hotter so the injector is starting to inject... She has this miss from idle to right around 1000 RPM or less???

Had a speacial decal made for the frame today that says DANGER anything 3 inches and taller will be snake bit upon passing over! Please duck down!

Thinking on having one made where the unleaded fuel only sticker was that says something with Venom in it like pure cobra venom only.. I don't know... suggestions welcome.. I wish I could do this build on TV so every person knows things go wrong!

Don't care for the snake on the fender. I'd have left it off. Too much like the Mustang II cobra decal. The king cobra was cool but had a shitty decal deal.

It is exactly like the Cobra II decal... I think it will look better when the whole thing goes together... If not it can come off .. I have a set of origional vintage Shelby Cobra decals but the pair I used looks better to me...

Nothing says you cant put videos of your build on youtube to show what you do but that might be a PITA. As for the fuel thing I once saw a geo metro that had sticker that said jet fuel only. Mabey nitro methaine might be a good sticker.

i vote that you take your throttle body off and sand it smooth along with your alternator casing, etc. can't just have one polished element, can you?

I was thinking that with the alternator casing. Not the throttle body though, that things looks wicked being gold.
Couldn't you take it apart and sandblast the parts, then polish them? Would that save you time? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that seems like it could work...

It may work but it would be extremly rough and still would take a ton of sanding.. it could make all the pits even deeper cause sand can get in there... In my professional opinion sand blasting is a bad idea on aluminum that is going to be polished it's just too abrasive...... there is no easy way to work the intake... just put a lot of time in it... I gave it about 1 or so hours a day for several days...
The throttle body is no longer gold.. I put a BBK 66MM on it... found it new for less than 200 bucks...

I found a place in Tennessee that has chrome alternators for the 4.0.. when cash allows I am going to get one... I thought about polishing the throttle body but I think it would look like an extention of the intake.. I am trying to break parts up sorta.. kinda make the eyes wonder from detail to detail...

Ahhhh, I see. Well, that's why YOU'RE building your truck, and not me! Haha. And I agree, don't polish the tb, just leave it as is, or paint it. But a chrome alternator would look sweet!

You could build a ranger just as good if not better! Most of the guys on here has done an amazing job on their trucks! I tell you what from some of what I have seen some of us are very lucky in we are in a climate where we don't have a major rust issues.. My truck has been a walk in the park compared to some...
