Well I am in college for engineering and we started doing projects and I got picked to be the designer for our projects so I got out all my old drawing stuff and drew up plans for my group. Then I got bored and thought hey I'll design a bumper for my truck!
Tell me what you think, I really like it.
I'm wanting to do a 1" body lift this summer and a new bumper would fill in the gap nicely instead of having to make brackets for the stock bumper. The thing wraps around and stuff and I decided to cut out a section below as you can see that will house 4x 5x7" Fog/driving lights and then have a lexan or plexiglass plate that covers them and protects them from dirt/mud and rocks on the highway...
And then for giggles heres my Project.
This is the dropped design... Its a stand, powerbox (for batteries and electronics), and the platform. The project is to design a device that can measure snowfall in remote locations for people like snowmachiners, and outdoors people that want to know snow fall in areas that they may camp or something and are waiting for so much snow. Basically the platform sits on the stand that is variable in size (ours is an average 6 foot stand). Then the platform has a flat area where snow falls then there is a camera mounted ontop of the pole (not drawn) and it takes a picture of the ruler on the far end of the wind shield and remotely sends that picture back to a designated computer or place. Then after taking the picture it uses a blade that scrapes the snow off the platform. This takes a picture every hour then wipes it off so you can see how much snow falls hourly and add it up to see the days progress.
Heres the new design.
This is the new platform, we did away with the camera as it would be difficult to keep clean of snow... and went with a downward facing infrared sensor that will do the same thing basically but without the need for light or visability. It also sports a better wind shield.
And this is the improved stand and box. The stand now has the solor panels on all sides for power, or they can be substituted for a windmill generator. and the box... well I just drew and inside to it...
