So I got brand new tires recently, 33's. Fullsize spare that will get rotated in. It won't fit underneath so I had to come up with a solution.

Here it is.

Two of these will go on the bed bolts

Then I put these in today.

Tire will sit like this, strapped down.

The two rings bolted to the bed are removable, so I will retain the flat floor. So when I plan on hauling things that require a flat bed floor. I can remove them and be good to go.

What did you use for hardware? a ring with a stud welded on? and what did you use for the threads on the bed, doesn't look like a normal nut. i was thinking about getting an N-Fab tire carrier but yours looks just as good and cheaper! :icon_thumby:

shopping

I used these.

$15 for a package of two at Canadian tire.
Took 5 minutes to install. Drill hole in bed. Insert and screw the nut on, and tighten. Super easy, super cheap. And super clean looking.

Did you buy them online, searched for an hour last night and couldn't find anything like that. :icon_confused:

Spare tire is strapped and locked. Not that it really needs to be locked. Just peace of mind when I'm in the city.

just an update to this, after many many hard miles everythings still holding great!

Yeah, I was trying to think of something to do about my spare after going to 33's

I really don't want to fill up the bed, so I guess I'm stuck with the standard size spare.

If I ever get a flat on the back, I'll have to put the spare on the front, swap one of the fronts to the rear, and NOT use 4wd until I get the tire fixed I guess.

It'll look goofy, but whatever..........

Too bad there wasn't room underneath. :-(

I don't find my way bad at all. If I need the room, I just take it out and either stand it up against my toolbox or run without it.

With a 33 a standard size spare won't be any good at all anyways.

when you start getting into larger tires like 33s and up on light trucks even if you got a flat which is hard to do in itself besides rock crawling or stumps youll notice on the rear of an unloaded ranger you can run flat and still not ruin a wheel or in heavy applications even the tire itself beside the damage that made it loose air.

Ive many a time punctured a tire in the woods on mostly knubs from small trees the harvester stripped and left on the ground. Take the punctured tire off the front if so and put it on the rear. If the rear gets punctured just leave it as the truck doesnt have enough weight to flatten it even at 0psi.

Its nice to have the spare but with that size tire or larger on such a light vehicle you can almost run with 0psi as is and still be functional, nevermind the actual event that would have to take place to render a tire that size useless on such a small application.

:dunno: mine go flat with light radials

i usually upright my tire on the drivers side by the cab for loads when running 33 or larger, but wire it down on the jack like this for just cruising.

just depends on what i am doing as to how many, location and type of spare i carry.

It came out nice!!! I like it. I just drilled 1 hole and welded a plate under the bed and my 33' spare tire is held secured and I just twist of the handle to remove the tire. I cut down the bed extender for a perfect fit in the bed. I bought both the tire mount and the bed extender new on Craigslist for $35.00 form a truck shop that had to relocate due to a roof that collapsed from heavy rain. The boxes had water damage but the parts were in mint shape. A really a good deal!!!!!

Nice deal for you! I was going to go that route but cost dictated I go this way Haha. Plus now I have 4 extra secure points for various other loads. Worked out well.
