Picked up a '91 exploder today with a blown M5OD today for 400 bucks

My BII 4.0 swap

Here's my '86 BII. I just blew the tranny up on it. It's got 2'' body lift, 2'' suspension but really need tires. I'm pulling the engine and tranny out tonight

Here's my ranger, I just put a new long block in it

My BII 4.0 swap

I'm really excited to get started on this, I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep the original dash or swap it. I'll be parting out the explorer soon too so if anyone needs parts from it

Sweet, it's been nearly a year since I got that tranny from ya. I started out the same way, Sploder with a blown M5OD. I think I remember seeing that one on craigslist.

Ya I want that tranny back now! Did you keep your original dash?

Yep I kept the original dash.. This tranny may be biting the dust, I'm getting an odd noise on deceleration :dunno:

The guy I bought it from said it only had 20,000 miles on it weird. I know he was an honest guy too. Hope it ain't shittin out on you

Keep the pictures coming.

Well The motor and tranny are out of the BII

It's filthy under there, I'm definitely gonna have to clean it up. Wish I could bring the exploder in there now and start on it but I've got a friends F 150 in my shop now that I gotta do a head gasket job on.

Anyone need a 2.9?

Looks good. I can't wait to do a 4.0 swap on my BII.

When're you doing your swap?

When're you doing your swap?
Probably sometime late fall or in the winter. I have to wait till I get stationed somewhere to see if I will have a garage or not.

I just finished my third 4.0 swap, best thing i've ever done to a BII.

Man that explorer has a nice body on it doesn't it?

I always feel sad when scrapping rbv's, even it was for a good cause. :bawling:

Finally got some time to start working on this.
The engine is in the BII now and looks bad ass :headbang:
I'll post some pics tomorrow.

It's so weird how it just plops right in like it belongs in there from the motor mounts to the exhaust. I haven't hooked anything up yet but I really think the rest is gonna be pretty easy.

There's the 4.0 in with all of the wiring gone now. Removed the dash tonight and man that was a pain in the ass. still gotta get the steering column and dash pedals out. I'm so not looking forward to doing this on the exploder.

I'm thinkin about rhino lining the floor inside while I've got the seats out
