My 99 Ranger Build Thread

OK, is it just me or do none of my pics/links show up for others as well?

Photobucket is giving me a "3rd Party Hosting" error.
TIA, Joe

I switched to google photos and then use this website to give me an embed link for the pics.

Well, that didn't work for me, so I'm trying something else.

Moving on...

While I've been getting stuff done and the photo hosting has been dying, time to get some new pics posted.

So the fuel cell and mount arrived.

The rear axle and front axle are done, all burned in, etc...

This part came with the axle narrowing jig and it's great for figuring out what the exle shaft lengths need to be. 35" on the driver side and 37" on the passenger side. In retrospect, I should have offset the pinion 1" to the passenger side and I could have used 36" shafts, which I could have ordered direct from Trail Gear, no waiting and less $$ than custom 35 spline inner/outer.

Hyrdo Steering

And I finally got all the old pics/links removed so pics are viisible again....

Got the fuel cell and brackets all painted up:

Front Link Ideas...

So my bright idea for the front links is to put them in front of the axle. That way, as the suspension cycles up, it cycles back at the same time. That should lessen the ride harshness since the tire is not trying to move forward as it cycles up like most 3/4 link setups. I don't think I'll be trying to put A-Arms in there.....

A couple ideas on mounting..

Front drivers side axle shaft arrived from Branik Motorsports. 17 1/8" length, 35 spline with 30 degree spines. I ordered the rears at the same time, they take a bit longer...

And getting closer with mounting up the hydro-steer.

I could get a lot more done if I was home... Gone another 10 days, then off for a month to get stuff finished up.

So the upper links will go forward and lower links will go normal?

No, both will come from the front if I can work it out. I'm not sure how much room I'll have.

You'll have to have some sharp angles, a horrible approach angle, and some short links

Yea, that's kinda what I'm trying to avoid. Do you have the numbers available for your linked suspension?
Joe

Was on the road, but back home for now and getting stuff done.

The rear axle-shafts arrived, 35 spline inner/outer full-float.

Got them installed and threw on some G2 hubs I had.
