My 91 Ranger the stRanger

Well I installed 2 of the front new body bushings, I couldnt get the others to come out! Oh well the fronts were my biggest concern seeing as how one of them was 90% washers and very little rubber lol.

Well the direction of my build is now changing slightly. I should be getting 2'' lift coils in the mail today from daniel3507. My original plan was to do a full 4'' bracket lift and new springs in the rear. However it was quite a bit of money, and since I don't have a garage or my own tools I can't install it myself over a weekend.

So for the time being I am planning on the new coils on the front, then making a hybrid spring pack in the rear with ranger/exploder leafs and an ad-a-leaf to get the height I want. Then new shocks at all 4 corners. (anyone have any recommendations on shocks for DD and moderate wheeling?)
Then I will replace my stock pitman arm for a longer drop pitman, and extend my brake lines.

I am hoping I will achieve enough height to stuff 33x10.50 without any rubbing and hopefully no trimming, but we will see... I might also look at 32x11.50 but I am not really a fan of the width. Then a regear to 4.56 and an aussie in the front.

Well that is the plan for now so we will see how it goes!

Well I may have scored a 31 spline exploder axle with 3.73 gears! It also might have the spring perches and shock mounts already flipped to! And I have a lead on a d35 with 4.56s. Today has been a good day for part finding!

edit: picking up the exploder axled with new perches and mounts for $125! :yahoo:

I am thoroughly enjoying this build. It is not to "trail" and still has a stock appearance. The great thing is you have done a few of the things that I will be doing to my truck, which is also an STX but a 92. It is nice to look at pictures of mods I want and not have it be a photoshop.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks! Your truck is pretty cool too, I love gen 2 Rangers!

Well today I got some good news and found some bad news.

The bad news is I suspect my wheel bearings and manual hub are fawked up on the passenger side. When my parents drove it here, they had to replace the bearings in wyoming. Unfortunately that ford shop put shit back together wrong. They did get a warranty on the parts and labor though, so when Ford looks at it friday hopefully I won't have to pay for anything...

The good news is I bought my add a leafs and D35 w/ 4.56 gears today, and I'm picking my axle up sunday.

That sucks dude! Doesn't appear anyone can figure out how to properly setup these wheel bearings...

I know right? After watching youtube videos and reading a ton I think I should be able to do them myself next time. But it SHOULD be free to get it fixed this time

I saw a truck just like yours they other day, same paint color and graphics but it was bone stock unlike your ranger :headbang:

Did the nuts back off or did the bearings just burn up?

I am pretty sure the bearings are burnt up, and the warn hub wasnt put on right either. The o-ring seal on the inside of the hub was about 2/3 the way off. I hope nothing on the warn hub was damaged, thats my biggest concern. I didn't completely take apart everything to diagnose it because I want Ford to find it all ****ed up and not try and blame me so I had to play a little stupid today when I dropped it of lol

Shit dude, sorry I didn't reply to your text, I was talking with the wimmins haha, wheels should be 7" wide...

man it is looking sweet i got my 'sploder rear end for 2hundo so good deal and really i am kicking myself for not getting a 4x4. and i forgot to ask what branch you in?
