My 87 Ranger build!

those 86s-87 rangers had the nice bigger throttle bodys than the 88+'s. i swapped an 86 one on to my 88 and made a nice little difference. you have a good project on your hands

lol thanks, might be replacing the engine... the one thats in it is getting very weak and smokey. so I'll get the one out of the bronco II

Well guys, I got some stuff done to my ranger today, nothing major but its progress :P

lol Really?, I just found em laying in the huge tire pile up there :P, And that danged casset adapter cost me $26!! :shok: Still owe the jy man $50 for the tires and bumper... but i'm not giving him that. tires are weather cracked and do somewhat hold air... and the rims are rusty as sin. I'd say $40 is good enough.

Sounds like the TPS (throttle postion sensor) needs replaced, tells the computer what to do and how much fuel to add, advance/disadvance timing, etc......

Maybe... but what i want to do is just replace it all... so i know i wont have any problems down the road.. Even though that takes away some of the fun :P
But you may be right... I'll try to grab one up the JY tomorrow.. but it also could be the exhaust one of my friends said... no back-pressure eh? getting my new exhaust system welded up soon, so that may fix it.. but its also smoking white and having a serious lack of power...

Sounds like a 2.9 liter engine to me.

A new TPS for my set up is $34.99, good thing mine servived my truck fire, had a bit of damage but still works.

Tools :icon_rofl: got my two other tires today :) same as the rear. just need some rims like on the back to match. also got a full set of sunpro gauges and a RPM gauge. donnie gave it to me all [tires and everything] for $30 :shok: i forgot to get the TPS today >_< But my exhaust is being welded up soon... everyones telling me that, that will fix my high idle prob

Well, i got the exhaust for my truck tonight. just stock. Bad thing, no manifolds, catalytic converter, or the piping between them. thats the biggest problem with my truck... i'm just thinking I'll get some headers then Y- pipe it into the muffler. sounds like a good idea eh?, anyone know where i can get some headers for a 2.9? on the cheap side?

yes those tires are from the late 70's 76-79 or possibly early eightys My Dad had them factory on a international harvester scout II{yes the red farm tractor company}and my uncle had em on his 1980 scout. Glad you found a set:headbang: If they leak air you could aways run tubes in em:headbang:

Well, i may send em back to the JY, gunna see if i can find some new tires on some nice rims. gunna go for the pre-runner look now :P, hopefully in time i'll make it into a full fledged pre-runner
