My 83 Project

In your avatar, it looks like your ranger has a black eye. But other then that get it running a post lots of pics. Hope to see seee it running soon!!

i was thinking about the whole puck and washer idea and i remembered that my suspension is really bad so should i go with the leveling springs if i change them? and if i do should i and an inch or two of washers under it?

Yours is 2wd so putting factory ranger 4wd coils on the front should lift it. As for the rear just put the factroy 4wd lift blocks under it. The washers will level the front if it is low no matter what suspension you have. Basiclly you will be at 4wd height but then it will need to be alined, but that will have to be done even with just washer being put under it.

The hockey puck idea is great for a body lift but never seen it used on a suspension just heard people talk about it. I might do the hockey puck to mine as a body lift after my SAS, depends on what it looks like.

Keep up the good work.

how much of a lift will i get out of the 4x4 springs?
And i went to install my new starter today and the holes are to small for the bolt has anyone else had this problem?

The factory lift blocks on the rear are 2 inches, so that will be your lift. Those two inches make it easier to crawl under a truck plus my truck being 4wd, it has 15 inch tires putting it 3 inches higher off the ground then a 2wd.

As for the starter, I've never had that problem. Are you using factory bolts or store ones, not that it should make a difference. I'd take it back and tell them the problem, mabey they gave the wrong one or one was put in the wrong box.

Ya it should be my truck sits a hair lower in the front because of its age and the springs are compressed a bit after 26 years. But they will be gone as soon as I start my SAS.

okay today i got alot done on the ranger..I got the right starter installed it which sucked with the saggy springs n shocks..it still didnt start..found out the distributor was installed backwards(not by me) so i just moved around the spark plug wires for now and it STARTED!...then died lol..so i kept trying and out of no where i lost spark :icon_confused: so i looked aorund and shook some wires and got spark back and lost it again..i looked around some more and the solenoid wasnt bolted to the distributor so i have to find some bolts and fix it tomorrow..But atleast i know it will start

just use 4 door explorer springs all around on your truck, that should be good for at least 2" all the way around. check out a pick and pull, explorers are a dime a dozen in those type of yards.

Solenoid wasnt bolted to the distributor.......do you mean the TFI module?

And remember....Don't forget the pictures, the more the better, htats why I'm confused about the solenoid thing.

As for the exploder springs, ya thats a great idea too. The only reason the exploders are a dime a dozen is because people like us keep RBV running and dont get rid of them because of a problem.

it'll be the tfi. im more confused about what switched up the wires means

the distributor was put in backwards by who ever put it in so the firing order was backwards..so i had to put the wires in the opposite order that it is suppose to be in

havent got much done to no money lol on friday i am buying a rear bumper/spare mount and four 15x8 rims and getting to free 33 in tires
