Got the exact one I wanted. Right down to the color. It's a 2006 4.0 5-Speed regular cab 4X4. Even has a bed liner. It is a fun process getting used to the extra 100 LB/FT of torque it has over my 89 2.3 5-Speed regular cab. Averaged around 18.6 MPG on the somewhat hilly highway home.
Manual or auto 4x4? If it's manual, close to my dream ranger!
Yes. It's a manual 5-SpeedIt's also my dream Ranger. For some reason I wasn't even sure they made 4.0 manual transmission short cab Rangers till recently. Must be kinda rare. I imagine it's not popular to have the small cab when out in the sticks. I figure I'll get a hard tonneau covers for it for storing excursion stuff. I wonder if there are locking rigid tonneau covers? Either way it's perfect for my purposes. It's primarily (99%) a driver so the lightest 4X4 truck possible is nice for gas mileage purposes. I was surprised that it got over 18 MPG on the way home. Probably has a lot to do with the street tires it has on right now too.
We are planning to go to the Mojave desert again this December and doing more abandoned railroad/town hunting and now we can take some back trails to get to some old mining towns in the Death Valley area. Having fun shopping for a CB that can be mounted in a discreet location as there is absolutely no cell reception in the valley and very little in the surrounding desert.
I think he meant if you have a manual transfer case.
But that's a nice truck! I've never seen that year 4x4 in a regular cab. I like it![]()
They were offered in 02-03 for the level 2s but that's it. I got mine from an explorer which is what most people do when they're tired of their 4x4 never working. I dont think you will have that problem
