alright .... i am completely new to the site and i need some help!

i have a 93 ford ranger 4.0 auto in good shape.
i want to make it that baddest ranger in northwest indiana...
so here is what i was thinking... 302 ! !!
but i need to know from someone/anyone on how much it would run me to convert it to a 302 5 speed.
i have looked at the site and have seen all of the prices for the conversion parts, but i am looking for a price on a low mileage engine and trans and around how much it would be for the whole conversion....

thanks
shawn

Figure on spending at least 1000-1500 total. Average swap is about $2500-3000 with a low mileage motor. I'd still recommend rebuilding the motor as gasket kits and bearings are pretty inexpensive for a 302. I'd recommend Promar.com for these sets. They're the cheapest I've found for the good quality stuff.

A friend of mine picked up a 5.0L HO and AOD from a junk yard in a '93 T-Bird w/ 100K for $400 and hasn't done squat to it. It's been going for at least 3 years now. The 5 speed is going to make it more costly. AOD with manual valve bodies would be pretty cool.

You will be suprised on how much just the little stuff and exhaust will add up to be.

If you were going to say in North East, IN, I would have to tell that you're going to need at least 351W. :) There's some pretty fast Rangers around here.

What are you going to end up doing with the 4.0L, A4LD, PCM, and wiring?

Pete

as far as the 4.0 ... i will try to sell it
but i know i cant keep it around just because of how small my garage is

Where are you from in In.?

You planning on EFI or carb?
There are some pretty decent salvage yards around the Huntington area. They would probably trade you your 4.0 for a 5.0 plus tranny.

i am from griffith IN

and i wanted to go carb just because it would be a little cheaper

Use a carb.

You'll be out playing while the guy with EFI is trying to sort out a colorful mess of wires.

A good Edelbrock and you wont even miss EFI.

later,
Dustin

i am definetlygoing carb...
if anyone in indiana has a good 302 that i wont have to rebuild ... let me know
