My $3,500 Jaguar - The 'Mad Jag'

If you have one of those AGM type of batteries, maybe it has to be fully charged to support all the electronics. The battery in my Santa Fe is like that and sometimes the Auto stop/start function doesn't work if the battery is less than 85%.

@JimOaks: Just curious...

Did your GF know the depth of your insanity when she agreed to hang out with you?

Like..."Hey hon, I'm gonna vacuum out the interior a little...."

She said she always wanted a Jag after I bought it. I let her drive it home for me when I bought it. Told her I was going to clean it up to daily so I'm not driving my F-150 as much. I'm probably going to kill her classy car dreams when I roll up with two big LED offroad lights mounted to the front bumper. LOL.

Roof rack and a spare tire carrier on the back...

All that work on the interior and no ejection seat? Pffftt.

Looked at the battery today. Has a Duralast battery with a sticker on the side that says 12/14, so I'm guessing the battery is over 7-years old.

The Jags headlights were dull and hazy in spots so I wet sanded them with 800 /1200 /2000 grit paper and then buffed them out.

I upgraded the Jaguar headlights to LED. Left is a stock H7 bulb, then the H7 LED replacement, and finally a much brighter H7 LED for the highbeam.

Nice! Any specific compound or pads you used?

Mine aren't as hazy as yours were but they could use cleaning up, especially the RH side.

(That's dew on the paint, not clear coat failure ;))

Are they tuned for the existing housings? I hope you dont end up blinding oncoming traffic. One of my pet peeves....

Went to replace the tie rod ends and realized the inners were worn out as well. Ordered a set of inners and as you can see, the threads that go in to the rack are to long. Right part number. Every site I find it on says it fits my car.

Found a TRW 1069 that also fits my car and has the shorter threads to match my old one. Guess I'll have to order those.

I stuck a screw driver in the end of the rack where the tie rod goes. It's deep enough. I guess it's just not threaded deep enough. :unsure:🤷‍♂️

Could cut them to length. Few minutes with hack saw, Sawzall, portaband, teeth, etc. Its much easier than stretching threads that are too short.
