The 8 years they took to build the place is impressive. It probably helped it last as long as it has as well. Things had time to settle during the build and adjusted for. Buildings are built too quickly now and all kinds of issues crop up as a result of the fact that things didn't get to settle before construction is completed. Quality of materials and craftsmanship decline probably hasn't helped either.

Portofino Italy:

Went to Portofino. Rented electric bikes to ride along the coast and stopped for a swim in the sea.

I got yelled at by the Polizia because we took our bikes into an area where there were storefronts and bikes were prohibited. Didn't know. I actually asked someone if it was ok before we did it and was told it was ok. The officer had his ticket book out, but I convinced him that I didn't know.
