My 2.9 i under powered help??

My 2.9 is very under powered when i hit hills or sometimes it takes me putting it to the floor just to keep it at 60 mph. Would a plugged up cat make it that under powered? Ive done a recent tune up(plugs, wires, cap, rotor) so idk what it could be .

A plugged cat should show across the entire power band.

The 2.9 wasn't a huge power house when new. I am assuming yours is not new. It is probably just pooched out. I'd run a compression test and see what's up in there. 90 is the minimum it needs to run, less than 110 and it will be noticeably weak.

If my compression is low and the rings are bad should i start looking around for a donor 4.0 and swap it or just rebuild the 2.9? Seems like a dumb question right? Lol
