Mustang wheels on a Ranger


Apologies @cbxer55, I thought (assumed) you had added 1.5" to both inside and outside of the rims when you added the 3". If all 3" is on inside, yes, it is more/less back where you started on the axle (sort of like dually rim on front of F-350).

My rims, both front and back, are modified stock rims. Weldcraft Wheels in Michigan does this. My fronts are cut down three inches. And the material cut off the fronts has been added to the rears. So the stock 9.5 inch rims are now 6.5 and 12.5. All modifications are done to the inside of the rims, never to the outside.
 
I just scored a set of '01 mustang wheels [rims are for bicycles] from my local pull-a-part with good tires for $150. They fit my '97 perfectly. The 245/50/16 tires that were on them are a tad short but damn do they stick to the road. I bolted them on with the mustang lug nuts & have no issues at all.
 
If you take off the 12mm offset wheels and put on a 1" spacer (25mm) and then bolt on 36mm offset wheels, your wheel centerline is only 1mm different from the stock so you have done absolutely nothing to change the bearing loading on the axle.
