I heard and read from a few sites that the fuel pumps can be swapped directly. I know I know some ranger fuel systems are returnless and others do feature a return line but can i just open the Summit or Jegs catalog and get a 255 lph for a Mustang and drop it into my Ranger???...I'm expecting about 340-385 hp from the bolt ons I've added to my Ranger's 5.0 and I know the Rangers pump won't be able to handle the added power. Any suggestions???

I'm just guessing (wait for some real mechanics to answer)
My '89 2.9L EFI has 30 lb. injectors & the pump puts out 35 lbs. (with an oem return line at the oem regulator).

What are the specs on the injectors you're using (so the guys will have a reference point)

Depending on what your set-up is now (assume it's return-less) you need to swap in the Explorer pump assembly with the regulator - returnless style. Not sure what the stock Explorer puts out for capacity but there are several replacements that put out 45-55 GPH which is enough for at least 400hp.
Hope this helps.

FWIW, The 2.9L injectors are 14lbs/hr stock. :) Unless you got a blower or something on that thing?! :icon_twisted: Fuel pressure sounds about right.

The fuel rail pressure is what "pushes" the fuel through the injector to help with creating the atomization of fuel for good combustion. When you increase the injector size, more of that pressure is lost per injector pulse and that is when you start running into problems because the pump cannot keep up with the demand.
