Must be the oil pump...

So I tried priming the 5.0 with a drill again with the oil pressure sensor out this time and barely any oil came out of the hole with the drill at full speed. But when I cranked the engine over before with the oil filter off the relocation kit it pissed out strong. For some reason the oil just isn't getting up to the top of the engine. Guess I just gotta yank the engine. It isnt making the typical noises it would make with a spun bearing. Ill replace the oil pump.

If the distributor turns a certain way it must be reversed... right...

Distributor turns counterclockwise, so you drill needs to be in reverse

Mine didn't have any oil pressure. Took the oil filter off the relocation kit and oil was spraying everywhere. Finally figured out I had the oil lines hooked up backwards to the filter housing. Apparently the oil filter will only flow one way.

Of course the oil filter only flows one way, that's what the anti drain back valve does. Otherwise every engine would clatter on start up until the filter refilled. We had 2 practically new Econolines the belonged to U Haul brought in with smoked transmissions because they installed external trans filters with the lines reversed. Since they used oil filters the fluid was topped by the drain back valves.

Yeah, I had honestly never given a thought to how an oil filter works. Seemed like unless it was upside down it would always have oil in it. Never too old to learn something for sure.

Yeah the lines were not hooked up backwards one of the hoses blew and it lost alot of oil so im thinking it killed the pump. I have a new pump lying around and I have like 8 bolts to take out and I the engine is ready to come back out. I just won't have time until Tuesday to do it. So I will put the new pump in an reprime and see if oil is getting to the top of the motor
