Hi all. :)

Ok, I have a potentially amusing situation for you all.

I bought an 88 Ranger a while back, and recently I've noticed a tendency for the headlights to flicker. Sometimes they'll come back on, sometimes I have to let it sit for a while before they'll come back on. I've replaced the headlight switch, since I know this is a very common cause of this problem. No change. Tonight I went to change the multifunction switch, since this is another very common cause of this problem.

Now we come to the fun part.

As I was swearing at the thing, trying to unplug the switch from the cables so I could swap it out in the cold and the dark.... I unplugged the top cable.

It's partially melted.

I'm thinkin this is the problem.

Now we come to the actual questions. (This is my first post on this forum, so I should mention I can be a little long-winded at times.)

How tough is it to replace the turn signal wiring harnesses? The plug itself is currently a problem, and I don't trust it. There's actually melted plastic in the plug and contacts.

Also, what could cause this to happen? Did someone put a 30 amp fuse in a 20 amp slot before I got the truck? Something along those lines?

Thanks!
