i have a d35 in my 86 ranger completely rebuilt. after 2 wheeling trips front rear end locked up upon inspection it was full of mud and water. i had the same problem with the d28 i cant for the life of me figure out where its getting in at. all the seals are new and the rear end vent hose is extended up to the master cyclinder. anyone have this problem? any input would be great on how to fix this problem. also it never leaked no signs of gear lube any where not around pumpkin ,axle shafts, or pinion seal. my buddy is having the same problem in his f250 with the ttb d44. please help!!! tired of throwing money away with the economy the way it is...

Don't go mudding

Seriously mud will work its way past seals no matter what you do. So:

Don't go mudding

but mudding is the fun part lol... where i go in eastern ohio its pretty hard to no have to go thru it. but thanks though

Probably depends on type of mud and/or how often you're in it.
I occasionally go through watery mud puddles like this and haven't had an issue.

I'd say maybe check the fitment of the breather hose on the diff barb, or maybe the hose itself has a crack or hole in it (I once had a rat chew into my windshield washer hose, the hose you'd use for diff breathers is about the same type of stuff).

Typically mud/water penetrates into things like ball joints & wheel bearings before the diff itself.

I couldn't figure out the issue either.

Voodoo mud magic...
