mud flaps

Why, so much emotion against mud flaps. I personally like people who actually do have them or keep them installed. I really don't like getting road spray in the windshield. As for my Ranger, it came with splash flaps from the factory. Nothing beats having some extra protection stating, "Ranger" right on the guards.

I ride and drive behind idiots with mud flaps and they do not help. I still get sprayed with crap....they are worthless.......

the patrol officer told me if he catches me out on the road again with out the flaps that i would get a ticket.

Stupid law....don't have thet here in Florida. I have never used them and never will...they look goofy and really look stupid as well.....did I mention that I really had mud flaps???

Shut up.

I'm getting sick of you being such a wet blanket all the time.

I have a set of nice Ford ones that I can't figure out how to attach to my truck.

Just stick them up your butt and when you drive hang your ass out the window and show off those stupid mud flaps...lol

Whoosh......oooooops......my wet blanket just got blown out of the window and a stupid HP is closing in on me to pull me over!!! Man!!! He looks pissed trying to look around that wet blanket draped accross his windshield....but...don't worry, I will give him your name and address....lol

NO the officer did not say. Some friends of my told me that a officer said that they are suppose to cover 3/4 of your tire.

In Washington they have to come down to the center of the axle.

heres some i made out of a semi-trailer flap. rears are no longer on the truck but fronts are still there. only bad thing is i didnt take suspention compression into account when i made them, so when the whole family is in the truck the fronts drag at low speed. but the longer they are, the more effective. the rear flaps arent there anymore due to getting caught on a parking bumper when backing and breaking the the factory round-bar style mount. the fronts do more to protect the truck anyhow.

You know racsan, I was just going to mention about being careful with long mud flaps. My dad's 91 Ranger 4x4 had long mud flaps, till he got stuck and when he threw it into reverse, it tore one of the rear ones off. Luckily the mud flap gave and not the mounts, redrilled some new holes, good as new.

Most states have mud guard laws. Yes you can get a factory vehicle without them and be fine but there is a reason behind that. Here in PA and most others there is a formula to determine if you need mud guards. Draw a line 22.5 degrees upward from your axle centerline, if there is no body there you need mud guards to reach down to that line. One suggestion for eclipse though, trim that bracket back to the bodyline. If a cop wants to be picky he can nab you for a protrusion sticking out.

u only need mud flaps if car or truck is lifted from stock height of 3 in or more and the flaps have to cover half the wheel my girl got a 150 dollar fine for not having mud flaps on her chevy tohoe with a 18 in lift

18" of lift? I am assuming that is for an urban dwelling show truck? You lose an exponential amount of torque from driveline angle, and joints break easier.

no it has a fully built 460 in it its her mud truck but she made sure she could still drive it on the road so she never had to trailer it her daddy paid for it and she helped build 80 percent of it

My ranger came with the mud flaps but I have been debating on taking them off. I see some of you hate them lmao

im sick of following idiots kicking up rocks into my windshield, mostly semi truck drivers though. i tend to stay back, but an 18 wheeler with missing flaps can shoot rocks along way, last windshield that broked was from an 18 wheeler cutting in and out of traffic, SOB got pulled over for going about 75mph though(we were going 70 and he blew by us.)

you dont need flaps that hang low, just long enough to catch rocks that fly up as rocks dont shoot out that low, do that 22.5 degree measurement to see how long you need.
