I have a MTX Thunderform sub box for my regular cab Ranger and I'm looking for a replacement sub since I bought mine used and it didn't come with the MTX sub. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the fourm, first off is it just the box, or does it have the amp bulit in? If it has the bulit In amp you need an MTX 4500. If it's just the box we need to know what year range the box is for and we can find you a better sub then the 4500.

It's just the box, no amp. The box fits in 93 to 97 regular cab Rangers. I have a 97 currently. I've been doing some searching at online car stereo stores, comparing brands, but I'm looking for a second opinion on subs.

So far I'm looking at two subs that may fit. One is a JL Audio 10w1 v2 the other is a Boston Acoustics G110-44.

So far that's about all I've found. Any other subs I should consider?

Thanks!

That's what I was thinking too. My only concern now is with my amp. I'm gonna run this sub with a Pioneer mono ~350W rms (800W peak) amp, which I'm thinking is too much power for the Boston. I'm just wondering, has anyone found or used subs that will fit the amp and the box?

I don't want to blow the sub when I turn it up. :headbang:

Thanks!

If your smart about it you won't blow that sub with that amp. Just an FYI I'm feeding my summer sub double the RMS it should have, and my winter sub almost 4X the rms it should have. Nothing has blown.

unless on has so much bass he has to have the window down, and doesnt want to in the cold

When it's -50* out side you can mess up the sub with out warming it up first, since I care about my 12", I run my old 8"L5 kicker because if it goes it goes I don't care.

lol elfs....ya know point ears funny shoes. the only people that can put up with -50 cause they live in the north pole........

The saround gets so stiff and brittle it can crack. I see it more with foam then rubber, and I've seen a Boston SPG555 do it.
