Some asshat ripped all the wiring out of my riding mower and stole my gas. Needless to say I need to rewire..

Do I have this right? I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a charging circuit.

STRTR is STARTER by the way. Couldn't fit it. The Start/On switches are standard toggle switches.. the keyed ignition hasn't functioned in quite some time.

Never wired one of these up, seems like a basic concept though.

The motor on a riding mower should have a charging circuit and they vary depending on what motor it is. There are a few sites on the net that have the circuits on, I know because I had to search around when I changed the motor on mine and lost the diagrams that came with the motor on the way home.

Hmmm.. that's probably the white wire coming out of the top of the engine going no where. Somebody hacked that off long ago.

Mower brand? Engine?

It's an old Montgomery Ward with a Briggs and Stratton engine.

I found a basic wiring diagram online but it doesn't match the ignition switch. If I run the wires according to the ignition switches diagram, nothing works.

However, I did manage to somehow get the starter to spin backwards. :icon_confused:

I'm switching batteries, I think something's up with this one. It's good that I have a spare.

The wiring diagram online is as follows..

_B_ _S_
_M_ _A_
_G_

However the one on the back of the switch is like this..
_A_ _G_
_S_ _B_
_M_

(A=Accessory, S=Starter, M=Magneto, B=Battery, G=Ground)

It doesn't work in either pattern. However if I mix them around, it turns the starter backwards.

Also, the mower has two different solenoids on it. One is a three post that has no wires going to it (assuming it's bad) the other is a four post. That shouldn't effect anything should it?
