I'm replacing the original front and rear shocks on my 1997 Ranger XLT 2WD 2.3l 5 spd. Can someone give me part numbers for the mounting hardware associated with the shocks. I don't want to reuse the old stuff as it is really rusty and I'll probably have to torch them off. Thanks

I don't think you'll need part numbers... just nuts and bolts right? once you get it apart go to the harware store and pick some new stuff up.

I don't think there is any mounting hardware. The front has a stud that is welded on at the bottom and the top gets bolted on through the wheelwell. The rear has a stud welded on for the top and the bottom just gets a bolts through the shock mount that is welded to the frame.

I recently replaced the rear upper shock mounts on a '94 Ranger 2WD XLT. I looked on line, at parts stores and a local spring shop - I only found one on-line source that advertised replacement mounts for Rangers. They didn't reply, so I called the spring shop - they advised me that there were no aftermarket mounts for a '94 and that I should contact a dealer. I went to a dealer (initially with some hesitation) and they advised me that Ford doesn't sell replacement upper rear mounts for a Ranger separate from the frame, but they do sell them for an F-150, and they are very close in size and shape. They said that's what they recommended to garages, etc. doing restoration work on Rangers. I got two F-150 mounts at $17.00 each from the dealer. They weren't too bad to mount - I drilled out/removed the factory rivets with a 3/8" drill bit and cold chisel, drilled two new holes for the new mounts, used one of the existing holes, and bolted them in place with hardended nuts and bolts.
