I have a 98 ranger with a blown up 4.0. I found a Mazda 4.0 long block but no one seems to know if it's the same motor or what I'd have to do to make it work. Anyone with a little more knowledge about them able to help me out?

yes, they are the same trucks. unless the mazda had the newer sohc than no. which one do you have

The type of motor is usually on the top of the motor area..SOHC for instance. You should see it as soon as you open the hood.

Oops! Forget to say that the SOHC came out in 2001 if my memory is correct. The early 4.0 like my 99 Ranger is an OHV. Hope this helps you out.

They're both a 98 so the motors should bolt up. Thanks for the help guys.

Great. You should be a-ok, Bro. Good luck with the project.
