question what rpm should a ranger idle at ?

cause my is idleing at right round 1000 rpm

Same for me. That's not abnormal.

When I start mine it chills at around 1500 for a couple minutes and then works its way down to 750-1000.

The computer controls the idle. There's a screw that would make you think otherwise, but it's function is to set the base idle voltage for the TPS sensor (don't screw with it ).

Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak IMO.

Idle speed should be marked on a sticker under the hood.
