Where is the best place to get inexpencive motor mounts to put a 302 in an ,86 with a 2.9?

Autozone Mustang Convertible mounts..i have a set sitting here brand new. Ill take $60 for them. PM me if interested.

Ok i did some searching around on Vert Mounts. Do you use the Vert Mounts on the motor and the stock frame mounts? Or replace both? 88mudder, I like that idiea, hold onto those for me while I look into this a little more.:)

Mid-to-late '80s Vert Mounts, install them inverted, right-to-left, left-to-right. Attach the mounts to the block. With the tranny attached to the engine, install them into the frame. Loosely, attach the tranny mount, first, to locate the tailshaft. Move the engine around until you get it where you want it. Carefully, lower the engine mount studs onto the crossmember. Double check to ensure that the engine is where you want it. Header clearance, Radiator and FEAD clearance, Oil Filter Relocation clearance. The back of the L-side Head should be no more than 1/4" away from the Firewall. (Might even take a hammer and dimple the Firewall, to move it back a tad more. Your radiator and FEAD will thank you.) Chaulk mark the location of the studs on the crossmember. Remove the engine/tranny from the vehicle. Drill the crossmember at the chaulk marks (1/2"), then slot them downward. (Do some searching thru TRS and RPS for members that have done this. Read and PM them for their input.)
Vert Mounts are available at almost any parts store for around $40. Cost-wise, this is probably the smartest way to go. Avoid the pricey aftermarket mounts and avoid Swap Kits, seems to be the general rule I've learned from searching and reading.

Wade's basically got it covered completely here. It's what I did and posted previously (that somehow has gotten misplaced in the years since):icon_confused:
